" We have renounced the hidden things of shame..." 2 Cor 4:2
My devotion and study for today was the renouncing of hidden shameful things. Sounds pretty elementary right? As I read further I found this is quite challenging. You know those little thoughts that pop in your head, terrible spiteful selfish thoughts that slip into your mind before you know it....yeah I am the most guilty of this. The author says we must renounce them as soon as they appear. Our goal should be to make our thoughts and actions as true, pure and Christ like as possible. By immediately renouncing these thoughts, our actions will follow and we will live a deeper and more satisfying life in Christ. It is the battle between the spirit and the flesh. We must be in constant guard of our mind, spirit, thoughts, body and actions. THis can be exhausting and I am starting anew each day to try again. "The greatest spiritual crisis comes when a person has to move a little further on in his faith than the beliefs he has already accepted." Oswald Chambers.
What do you think? Do you have helpful suggestions, how do you handle this challenge? Do you agree? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Blessings to you and yours.
